It's National School Lunch Week

Passion for Food ... Lots of Food

Today, many school districts not only offer lunch but breakfast and an after-school snack. Here in Akron Public Schools, our nutritional staff has worked tirelessly during COVID-19 to not only feed students back in our buildings but those who were learning from home for nearly a year.

During that time, our staff prepared and delivered nearly one million meals from the front parking lots of many of our schools as families drove up, grabbed their meals in a bag and headed home.

It was an extraordinary effort in an extraordinary year.

National School Lunch Week focuses on healthy food choices, balanced diets and portion sizes. Throughout the week, cooks and cafeteria personnel will feature posters and information about school lunches. Parents are encouraged to participate, too.

Not only do our child nutrition employees take great pride in their work, but they strive to provide the best meals possible.
