But Mr. Stoltz did return from the war with many honors given to him for courage and service in Vietnam. Included in that cadre was the Bronze Star for heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement or meritorious service inside of a combat zone.

At its June 10 meeting, the Akron School Board delivered to Mr. Stoltz the Akron Public Schools diploma he would have received had he stayed in school.

Mr. Stoltz was grateful and expressed his thanks to the board and the administration. He also spoke briefly about the often chilly reception Vietnam War veterans received upon returning to the U.S. after fighting in what had become an increasingly unpopular war.

To show his appreciation, Mr.Stoltz presented Board President Rev. Dr. Curtis T. Walker, Sr., and APS Superintendent David W. James, Ed.D., with a Vietnam Veterans' 'I Will Not Forget' memorial coin.

Pictured here is Mr. Stoltz and his family who joined him as he received his diploma last evening.
