Middle School Sports Update

Image of Middle School Sports UpdateAPS concluded the middle school sports programs last week in softball and track. Innes CLC softball finished the season on top of the standings followed by Hyre CLC and Jennings CLC. Middle school track winners included the Litchfield CLC boys, winners for the fifth straight year under Morgan Green, and the Hyre girls team coached nicely by Adrianna Eidom. Outstanding performances: DaMya Barker from Buchtel CLC won the 100 meters and the 400 meters while Nino Jennings tied for first at the high jump. East CLC had a winner with Jason Martin who tied for first in the shot put and Deja Meekins taking second in the 800 meters. Hyre got great performances from Xavier Preston in the 100 meters and Brooke Norman in the discus. Cam'Rion Winters from Hyre had a nice day in the 100 and 200 hurdles, taking first. The Innes 400 meter winner was Glenn Parker, and Qumari Shelton won the girls shot put. Chris Porter of Innes soared to first place in the long jump. Jennings saw James Boykins take second in the 100, 400 and 800 meters. Albannae Rice finished third in the 1600 meters for the Wolverines. There were several good efforts for Litchfield led by Abraham Corn, who tied for the shot put championship, and Soloman Petrie winning the 800 and taking third in the 1600 meters. Litchfield girls won the 4x100 meter relay with the team of Bonner, Gwen, Polk and Smith. Congratulations to all, and special thanks to Ellet and East ROTC units for their assisting with the meet.
