This year, National Inventors Hall of Fame® Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (NIHF-STEM) High School had nine valedictorians.

These students achieved GPAs that are above a 4.0 and graduated summa cum laude, according to school officials.

Tommy Sayarath gave the valedictorian address during the graduation ceremony, which was held May 16 at Goodyear Theater. The Class of 2018 includes 73 students, school officials said.

Sayarath plans on attending The University of Akron (UA). Other top nine students, including the colleges they will attend, include: Jacob Rich, UA; Mar Lin, The Ohio State University (OSU); Allan Thomas II, OSU; Gabriella Galonski, UA; Abigail Zupancic, Kent State University; Camryn Woodley, Muskingum University; Stevan Veselinov, UA; and Chandler Kline, UA.

The NIHF-STEM High School honored several of its students with Core Value Awards, which are designed to recognize the characteristics of learners who reflect the visionary leadership that began the district’s NIHF-STEM program and schools, school officials said. Students who received these awards include: Jacinta McWain and Jackson Tankersley, Donald Plusquellic Core Value Award for Imagination; Woodley and DionJare’ Scott, David W. James Core Value Award for Inspiration; Lin and Rich, Traci Buckner Core Value Award for Integrity; Saige Hall and Jayson Sutter, Larry W. Johnson Core Value Award for Innovation; and Madison Anderson and Zachary James, Susan Hall Core Value Award for Inquiry.

According to school officials, Manhood and Womanhood awards are given to students who embody all of the core values in such a way that they are representative of high moral and ethical standards, are leaders among their peers and in the larger community, display positive attitudes about life and give of themselves in service to others. The Womanhood Award went to Zupancic and the Manhood Award was given to Veselinov.

Nineteen students, including several in the top nine, received full tuition scholarships, and 39 students reported they were offered academic scholarships from colleges. More than $1 million in scholarship money was accepted by the Class of 2018.

Students who earned State of Ohio Academic Honors Diplomas include: Madison Anderson, Delaney Deckert, Galonski, Chandler Kline, McWain, Gennaro Naccari, Mason Prickler, Rich, Matthew Simms, Mary Thongleuth, Woodley and Zupancic.

Students who earned State of Ohio STEM Honors Diplomas include Erica Barnes, Jalen Faircloth, Lin, Deloni Page, Sayarath and Veselinov.

Hall and Thomas earned State of Ohio Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diplomas.
