Image of Bowling TeamsEvery year, City Series bowling is filled with great stories and terrific bowling. This season was no exception!! Ellet bowling had an outstanding season winning the regular-season championship in boys' and girls' bowling.

But the Lady Vikings said "not so fast" when the championships were held on Feb. 14 at Stonehedge Lanes. Led by senior Hailey Roberts, the Vikings battled all morning long and knocked off Ellet by a mere three pins to win the City title 2,189-2,186. Senior Hayleigh Roberts led North to the big victory shooting a nice 254 game and a high series of 419 to lead all lady bowlers at the championship. The 254 game included the first eight strikes in a row only to be stymied by a ringing 10 pin in the ninth frame. The Firestone CLC Lady Falcons finished third with 1,887 pins.

The boys' teams had their share of action, too. Firestone CLC keggler Jacob Weber fired the high game for the second year in a row shooting a 276. Weber, who shot a fine 297 last year with the first 11 in a row, nearly equaled last year's feat when he poured the first nine shots in the pocket before ending with a 276. Firestone took third-place honors while the East CLC Dragons made things interesting before grabbing second place with 2,665 pins. A great combined team effort for Ellet helped the Orangemen take home first place with 2,775 total pins. The Buchtel CLC Griffins were well represented by James Jones who led all the male bowlers with a fine series of 449. Special thanks to Ray Stalnaker and Stonehedge Lanes for again putting on a great championship for the City Series.
