  • Open to the public by appointment, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., if your need cannot be completed online.

Online processes (links in blue):

All visitors to the Engagement Center are required to follow the guidelines below:

  1. Do not enter the building if you are sick and/or have COVID-19 symptoms. We may complete a health questionnaire with visitors or take visitors’ temperatures.
  2. All visitors enter at the 10 N. Main St. entrance (Door 1) located on North Main Street.
  3. Face masks/coverings must be worn at all times inside the building. (Metro bus passes and staff IDs require a photo; at that point, masks will be taken off by the visitor.)
  4. All visitors must follow physical distancing of six feet.
  5. No more than two people per family

The Engagement Center is available to support the following items:

  • Help finding solutions to student and family needs
  • Connect you to the appropriate resources and staff to provide support, answer questions and handle concerns
  • Provide information about policies, procedures and processes
  • Find the appropriate staff member to support specific needs
  • Provide support in completing the various forms you may need to complete online

Information the Engagement staff will need:

  • We must talk to the guardian to make any changes to student information.
  • Only guardians can discuss individual students.
  • Student’s name, date of birth, grade and school, and possibly other identifying information to confirm your identity

Concern with a staff member:

If an issue involves a school building staff member (principal, teacher or other staff member), please attempt to resolve the issue with the staff member first, then the supervisor, such as the principal if there is a concern with a teacher. Most issues are most readily resolved at the most local level possible.

APS participates in Special Safety Tip Line in Ohio:

1.844.SAFEROH or 1.844.723.3764

The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day for schools that register for the service.

This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety — whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.

Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.

Calls or texts to 844.SaferOH (844.723.3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to local school officials, local law enforcement agencies and others, if necessary.

TAP Unit analysts always follow up quickly with the affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure that the incident is investigated, action is taken and the outcome is tracked.
The assurance that their calls or texts cannot be traced and that serious, proper action will be taken to end the threat is helping to persuade young people to take a stand against school violence.
