The Gifted Education Department aims to help students realize and reach their full potential while making learning an enjoyable and challenging experience.
Students develop:
- Critical and creative thinking processes
- Research and independent study skills
- Presentation skills
Gifted services currently begin in third-grade mathematics. Students identified as gifted may be served in areas of reading, mathematics, and creativity.
APS screens students for the area of giftedness in both second and fourth(whole grade). MAP testing in reading and mathematics that is administered two times a year may also be used for gifted identification.
