GAR Foundation has created and funded a program, Essential Experiences, that provides our students in kindergarten through grade five with in-depth experiences at a half dozen exciting resources: the Akron Art Museum; Akron Zoo; ArtSparks; Hale Farm & Village; Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

It is best explained by GAR Sr. VP Kirstin Toth this way. "Experiential learning draws from research supporting the value of co‚Äźcurricular experiences. Think of Essential Experiences as a field study rather than just a field trip. These experiences are unlike any traditional field trip; they don’t end when the students get on the bus back to school. Each experience has enriched curriculum that connects the experience to classroom learning.”
