Image of 1920s Akron YWCA Hiking ClubOn April 23, the Summit County Historical Society will celebrate the contributions of the YWCA in a special walk that begins at 11:30 a.m. The walk begins at The University of Akron's Archival Services on the Polsky Building's lower level (225 S. Main St.). Hikers will listen to speakers S. Victor Fleischer and Theodore R. Mallison and see the new exhibits. Following is a visit to the now-closed YWCA building on South High Street where hikers will see artifacts and listen to speaker Kathleen Endres. This walk is the first in a series of free walks that will focus on social justice and reform. Reservations are required through eventbrite.com or at SCHS@SummitHistory.org. Participating hikers should park in the State Street deck.
