Image of Access Shelter flierACCESS Shelter (a shelter for homeless women and children in Akron) is hosting its first annual Youth Community Impact Day on April 13 for grades 6-8. It's a free event where students can do an on-site service project, learn about homelessness in Summit County, and develop some service-based leadership skills. The shelter is located at 230 W. Market St., and the event is holding two sessions (10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.). As your "ticket" in, each participant may bring in one Wish List item (new youth tennis shoes, new youth spring jacket or new size 5 or 6 diapers). To register, visit access-shelter.org/events. For questions or more information, call Stephanie at 330.376.0997, ext. 208.
