Parents and family were invited to join the students to view Impressionistic canvases they painted. They also watched a PowerPoint presentation of their recent visit to the Cleveland Museum of Art to discover the world of French Impressionism. French pastries were served.

Monsieur Starr, Resnik’s French teacher, received a grant from the Meyers Family Fund that allowed the students and staff to enjoy a day of art discovery. Resnik art teacher Madame Huziak guided the students in the weeks following their outing in the creation of their personal Impressionistic rendition of one of Monet’s paintings. Pupils also wrote a one-page biographical paper on Claude Monet.

The collaboration was extended as the PTA sponsored a traveling exhibit of Monet’s art. The colorful fabric panels, as well as Monet-inspired artwork created by students at every grade level, adorned the hallways for one week. Students, staff and visitors were in awe of the entire exhibit. Students were drawn to the exhibit and lived the IB learner profile by asking questions and probing into Monet’s world of art, especially his home and gardens at Giverny, France.

The entire staff voted on the best works. Alyviah Abernathy took home the third-place certificate. Macy Garver-Hughes was awarded second place. The top honors were presented to Ava Knotts. Excellent job ... C’est génial! We love our IB world!
