We are including the nominating letter for Jodi written by her Principal Nancy Ritch:

Glover CLC’s art teacher, Ms. Jodi Crossley. has been awarded the 2018 Akron Arts Alive, Outstanding Art Educator award.

She is very involved with her school’s community and committed to bring unique experiences to her students. Crossley works hard to allow the community to see what amazing hearts and talents her students have!

She has developed quite a few programs at her school. These include Happy Paintbrush Club, A night to Paint and “Sip” in cooperation with her SIP team, A “Specials” night of learning for both reading and math, and Peace in the Parking Lot, which kicks off Peace month for the city of Akron.

Glover students have typically been largely represented in APS-required projects such as The Mayor’s show, May festival for the Arts and Art in Business ;but she goes above and beyond sending her students' work to events such as: 1000 Cranes for Peace in cooperation with Global Ties Akron, Peace Month Akron, Big Love, The Weathervane Project and a display in a local restaurant.

Oh, and did we mention Jodi is an entrepreneur? She owns The Sassy Sunflower boutique, just off Copley Circle where she continues to teach classes and give back to the community with monthly events and fundraisers. She is also the creator and publisher of Shine Magazine, an online publication for creative women.

Ms. Crossley works hard to build our children and others. We couldn’t be more proud that it’s her time to Shine!

Proud Principal ,
Nancy Ritch
