Image of News SignAt the March 26, 2018, meeting of the Akron School Board, the board received good news about enrollment and school spending priorities from the district's chief financial officer and treasurer.

Ryan Pendleton, in his monthly financial report to the board, explained that enrollment at Akron Public Schools has, in his words, stabilized. This comes, Pendleton told the board, after a decade of decline.

When it comes to how the district invests in its resources, the treasurer made a comparison with Ohio's other urban school systems.

"Our priorities are well reflected," Pendleton said, "in the data I have showing we spend more per pupil on staff support, pupil support and instruction than our urban counterparts." He added, "I may also add another bit of important information and that is that APS also spends less on building operations and administration than our urban counterparts."
