John Brown House is the backdrop
Students in a program known as Superintendent Seminar took a short trip to the 190-year-old John Brown House for what educators call a deliberative dialogue. We thank our friends at the Summit County Historical Society for allowing our students to tour the home, which is under a massive, piece-by-piece renovation.
It was once home to the radical abolitionist John Brown and has held up well with its bones of tulip poplar wood. But the wood has deteriorated and is being replaced with cedar from Oregon.
The Superintendent Seminar is a group of seniors who have opportunities throughout the school year to meet with Superintendent David W. James to discuss school and life. Mr. James answers every question they pose!
At the John Brown House, students had an ongoing dialogue about John Brown and his role in America's history.
