Woman of the Year Awards

Image of Summit County Historical Society LogoThe Women’s History Project (Summit County Historical Society) will host its annual Woman of the Year Awards virtually at noon on Thursday, March 25, noon-1:15 p.m. Dr. Amy Acton will be the keynote speaker for this year’s program, “Women of the Pandemic.”

2021 recipients are the following:
  • Dr. Shanu Agarwal, Summa Health – Special Pandemic Health
  • Lisa Aurilio, Akron Children’s Hospital – Special Pandemic Health
  • Olive Beason (Husk) – Posthumous
  • Nealie D’Abate, Western Reserve Hospital – Special Pandemic Health
  • Bhutanese Mask Makers of North Hill - Greater Akron Hindu Sewa Samittee Inc. – Perseverance
  • Josy Jones – Creativity
  • Reverend Nanette Pitt – Faith
  • Christy Rohm, Cleveland Clinic Akron General – Special Pandemic Health
  • Summit County Health Commissioner Donna Skoda – Integrity
The awards are handmade by University of Akron metalsmithing students Ellie Payne and Mary E. Meyers, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of The University of Akron Criminal Justice Program. They are under the direction of professor Sherry Simms.

Tickets to the event are free but attendees must register on EventBrite. Sponsorship and booklet ads are available as well.
