School Talent Show to Stream Online

Firestone Students Take Talents Online

Image of Akron School for the Arts logoFirestone’s school-wide talent show will be streamed online three times starting Friday, February 5, 2021. The show, now called Falcon-Palooza: The Firestone Talent Show, will be available for streaming at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 5, and Saturday, February 6, 2021, as well as at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021. A link to the ticket-selling window can be found on the theatre’s website at FirestoneTheatre.com and at Akron.Booktix.com. Tickets for this streaming event are $7 plus a streaming fee. Each act of the production will be pre-recorded by students in their own homes and compiled into a single show featuring the talents of more than 25 current Firestone students.

Falcon-Palooza: The Firestone Talent Show will include up to fifteen acts featuring vocalists, actors, rappers, instrumentalists, dancers, a rock band, and a number of students presenting original music they have written and performed. The 2021 talent show represents the first time in decades the popular event has been available to the general public. The talent show is typically presented only during the regular school day.

Students potentially included in Falcon-Palooza: the Firestone Talent Show include seniors Paige Brownfield, Logan Chapman, Claire Knabb, Timmy Owens, Armani Ponder-Keith, Dariyah Scott and Teresa Szaras; juniors Shomari Bryant, Shakur Cistrunk, Will Forcey, Nova Grant, Constance Hairston, Ilona Kitchen, Adin Merritt, Jamir Tompkins and Kayla Vinson; sophomores Ryeleigh Calmese, Sam Erisey and Esther Jeong; and freshmen Tuesday Michaels and Imani Ward.

Students providing production and technical support to Falcon-Palooza: The Firestone Talent Show include juniors eMJay Ross and Jada-Lynn Pledger. The production is under the direction of Mark A. Zimmerman.

Firestone Theatre is the award-winning play and musical-production component of the Akron School for the Arts housed at Firestone Community Learning Center. The curricular track of Firestone Theatre is accessible to all rising ninth-grade students via open enrollment and a formal audition. The most recent open enrollment has recently closed. Students may also join the Firestone Theatre curricular program through the Akron Public School’s College and Career Academies (CCA) as a sophomore.
