Image of Ellet CLCThe 36th community learning center to be designed and built for students at APS is opening this weekend on Woolf Avenue in southeast Akron. Twenty-seven classrooms comprise the new school, along with seven science labs, educational spaces and resource rooms for students with disabilities and behavioral health needs. There are tutoring areas throughout and spaces for art and instrumental and voice music.

Ellet CLC contains collaborative learning spaces outside of its classrooms and features a state-of-the-art security system, security office, restricted building access, and camera system for student and staff safety.

Unique to Ellet CLC is space especially suited for APS new College & Career Academies of Akron. Ellet is home to the Academy of Applied Engineering, the Academy of Community Health and Safety, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Academy of Global Marketing and Media.

Video services has moved from the Conrad C. Ott Building to Ellet, as has 91.3 The Summit (WAPS) the Akron Public Schools on-campus radio station.

There is much more to the latest learning center for Akron students and Akron's citizens. APS Community Learning Centers have all been created thanks to the commitment and dedication of Akronites who approved an income tax increase to help fund this now 15-year-long project.

Akron Public Schools and its board wish to express their gratitude.
