Fifty-three teachers were nominated as Building Teachers of the Year. Of those 53, eight were selected as finalists for Teacher of the Year. To showcase why these very special individuals were chosen, this video montage was constructed and was shown during the 2011 Teacher of the Year Banquet on May 24, 2011. This is just a small sampling of the great teachers and staff we have in APS. Thank you, teachers, for all of the hard work you do every day.

Honoring East High grad, Marine Cpl. Derek Wyatt

On December 6, Marine Cpl. Derek Wyatt was killed during combat in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. Wyatt was a 2004 East High graduate, member of the Marine Corps J.R.O.T.C. program, and a member of the baseball and cross country teams.
