The Community Relations and Customer Service chair monitors to ensure that we are engaging the public on issues facing Akron Public Schools and monitors to ensure that the parents, students and community members we serve receive the highest level of service and respect at all times.

Term to 12/31/13: Jason Haas is serving his second term (his first term, effective January 2008, was for two years) with the Akron Board of Education. He is currently the Board of Education Vice President and the Personnel and Staff Relations chair.

The Personnel and Staff Relations chair works with the Superintendent on his plan to reform the human resources department; monitors to ensure the recruitment, retention and development of high quality employees for Akron Public Schools; and acts as a liaison for the Board in all personnel matters.

Term to 12/31/11: James Hardy began serving his first term with the Akron Board of Education in 2006. Hardy is filling the remaining two years of Kirt Conrad's term. He is currently the Finance and Capital Management chair.

The Finance and Capital Management chair monitors to ensure that we are operating efficiently and responsibly, serves as a representative on the Board's Joint Board of Review, and monitors the Imagine Akron CLCs' Project.
