KeyBank Foundation awarded a $50,000 grant to Stark State College Foundation to provide scholarships to current and prospective students.

The grant will focus on helping students enrolled in Akron Public Schools and Canton City Schools find an affordable path to higher education.

Dollars will also be used to assist and encourage current Stark State students to stay in school and graduate.

The grant will begin serving students this spring.

"We're grateful for these scholarship dollars because we know the kind of difference they will make in our students' lives," Marisa Rohn, executive director of advancement, marketing and Stark State College Foundation, said in a news release.

Stark State College Foundation supports students through scholarship opportunities. All gifts awarded to the foundation go directly toward supporting student needs, which include providing accessible degrees, education and training.

The KeyBank Foundation works to provide students with opportunities for academic success, access to high-quality education and support as they prepare for their careers.

"We recognize that the success of students entering the workforce depends not only on the quality of their education but the resources available," Timothy Burke, KeyBank market president, said in a news release. "Through this grant, we are helping students of all backgrounds receive additional support to position them for success and providing external resources available through our community network."
