BACKGROUND CHECKS AND EXCLUSIONS

Criminal background checks are required for all programs at the Akron School of Practical Nursing to ensure that students are eligible to complete the clinical requirements of the courses and obtain employment in the healthcare field.

You must complete your background check IMMEDIATELY.  The results may take up to six weeks to arrive at the school. Take your driver’s license with you and tell them you are an incoming student from the Akron School of Practical Nursing.

For PN student there will be no charge to you that day - the fee is included in your Term 1 tuition and fees.

For STNA and Phlebotomy students - the student must pay for the background check at the time they are fingerprinted.

Results MUST be received at the school prior to the first clinical day.

Any background issues will be discussed individually. Please review the background exclusion list available on this page.
